Diet
In the wild, more than 90% of its diet consists of bamboo. It also feeds herbs, roots, fruits, larvae, mice, lizards, fledglings and eggs.

Reproduction
Female and male reach sexual maturity around the age of 18-20 months. Mating can occur between January and March. The gestation period is between 114 and 145 days. The female gives birth to one to four cubs, rarely five.
