Diet
Omnivore, its food is composed mainly of plants and grains. Before and during the egg laying period, the female feeds especially on aquatic invertebrates.

Up to 20 years in the wild.
Reproduction
From the age of 1 year old, mating and egg laying takes place from March to April. The female generally lays 8 eggs (3-14), at a rate of 1 per day, which she incubates for 21 to 25 days. The duckling’s first flight takes place 36 to 57 days later.
Predators
Eggs and ducklings can be the prey of fox, skunk, raccoon, and certain birds like crow, seagulls and birds of prey.
