Reproduction
In Quebec, the courtship ritual starts in early winter, at around 2 years of age. Egg-laying usually occurs in March and even in February. The couple incubates 2-3 eggs for a period of 26 to 30 days. The first flight occurs 63 to 70 days later.
Predators
Foxes, bobcats, coyotes, raccoons, American black bears, crows and ravens can prey upon eggs and young.
