Diet

Carnivorous, feeding mainly on small mammals like snowshoe hares, but occasionally on young deer and birds.

Lifespan

Up to 12 to 15 years in the wild and around 20 years in captivity.

Reproduction

From the age of 12 to 18 months old, mating takes place between February and March. The 2-3 cubs are born between late April and mid-May after a 50 to 70 day gestation period and are weaned after 2 months

Predators

Cougar, grey wolf, coyote; the young can also be the prey of great horned owl and red fox.
