Diet
Mainly herbivorous, feeding on herbaceous plants but also on a wide range of insects.
Lifespan
Up to 8 years in the wild and captivity, but a lot less on average.

Reproduction
From the age of 2 years old, mating takes place in mid-April. 4 to 5 young are born in late May after an approximate 38 day gestation period and are weaned after 7 weeks.
Predators
Black-footed ferret, American badger, Western rattlesnake, birds of prey, coyote, red fox and sometimes bobcat.
