Lifespan
Average of 2 to 3.5 years in the wild but can live up to 10 years.
Reproduction
Mating and egg-laying occur from late March to early June starting at 1 year of age. The female incubates 6 to 7 eggs for 16 to 21 days while being fed by the male.
Predators
The raccoon, domestic cat, fox squirrel, mink and American crow will eat the eggs. Hawks, great-horned owl and the common raven may attack adults.
