American Bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus)
Carnivorous, feeds mainly on insects and other invertebrates, but also smaller frogs (including its own species) and, occasionally, small fish, young snakes and small birds.
From 3 to 5 years, mating and egg laying take place between June and August. Females lay between 4 000 and 23 000 eggs hatching 3 to 6 days later. Tadpoles metamorphose after 2 to 3 years of larval stage.
In nature, 8 to 9 years.
The Great blue heron, raccoons, the Striped skunk, the Common garter snake and the Northern water snake, as well as some fish species.
